Grief Tour received a development workshop with James Madison University's Madison New Works Lab in August, 2024.
Grief Tour tells a universal story of love and loss set to a soundtrack of raucous rock anthems—a poignant yet exhilarating exploration of the vastness of grief, the complex bonds of family, and the healing power of music.
After the sudden and unexpected loss of her mother, 19-year-old Nora finds herself battling—and suppressing—overwhelming waves of grief while navigating a tenuous and painful relationship with her father. Suddenly thrust into the spotlight and forced to play the perfect daughter on a road-trip-slash-reunion-tour of all her father’s old friends, Nora’s true emotions come to life onstage through the angry rock concert happening in her head. With the help of her band, an ensemble of rock musicians who jump in to play the characters of friends, family and everyone else we meet along the way, Nora must overcome her grief in order to heal her relationship with her father— and herself— in this energetic, exhilarating, and heart-warming musical.
